The Email signup section allows you to collect customer email addresses for newsletters, promotions, product updates, and other marketing communications. You can combine the signup form with an image or video and customize how the newsletter content is displayed over the media.
Click the section name to see the section settings on the right-hand sidebar.
Customize the overall appearance and layout of the section.
Make section full width: Expand the section to use the full available width.
Color scheme: Select the color scheme applied to the section. You can choose an available color scheme or customize it through Edit scheme.
Layout: Choose how the newsletter content and media are arranged. In the example shown, the Overlay layout displays the newsletter content over the media.
Choose and customize the media displayed in the section.
Media type: Choose between Image and Video.
Image height: Control the height of the image on desktop. The Adapt to image option adjusts the section according to the image ratio.
Mobile image height: Control the image height on mobile devices.
Image: Select the main image displayed on desktop.
Mobile image: Select a separate image optimized for mobile devices.
Image behavior: Choose how the image behaves while customers interact with or scroll through the page. For example, Zoom out on scroll adds a zoom-out effect while scrolling.
Media overlay opacity: Adjust the opacity of the overlay placed over the media to improve the visibility of newsletter content.
Use the Section margin settings to adjust the spacing outside the section.
The Newsletter container controls the signup form and the content displayed with it.
Each email subscription creates a customer account in Shopify.
Background: Enable or disable the background behind the newsletter content.
Inherit color scheme: Use the color scheme from the parent Email signup section.
Style: Choose between Standard and Card styles for the newsletter content.
Desktop newsletter position: Choose where the newsletter is positioned over the media on desktop. On mobile, the newsletter is displayed at the bottom and centered.
Alignment: Set the alignment of the newsletter content.
Show icon button: Show or hide the icon inside the Subscribe button.
Icon button: Select the icon displayed inside the button, such as Arrow circle up right.
Click Add block under Newsletter to customize the content displayed above the email field.
The available content shown in the example includes:
Heading: Add the main newsletter heading, such as Subscribe to our emails.
Text: Add supporting information, such as Get sleep tips, new product drops and exclusive offers.
Spacer: Add additional spacing between newsletter content and the signup form.
Child blocks can be reordered by dragging and dropping them in the Theme Editor.
When a customer enters their email address and clicks Subscribe, their information is saved in Shopify Customers and associated with their email marketing subscription status.
You can manage these subscribers from Shopify Admin → Customers.
The Email signup section itself does not store a separate subscriber list inside the theme.
